infoNIV: a new resource to speed up the recovery of stolen vehicles

GAA announces the launch of infoNIV, a new database of vehicle identification numbers (VINs) designed to accelerate the return of stolen vehicles to insurers. By linking the VIN of a recovered vehicle to the insurer's file, authorities and/or Equité Association will be able to quickly identify the insurer.

The development of this database is aligned with GAA's mandate, delegated by the AMF, to act as an authorized agency for collecting and disseminating automobile insurance statistics (Automobile Statistical Plan) and insureds' claims data (Fichier central des sinistres automobiles).

infoNIV offers a secure online platform through which insurers can transmit the complete list of insured passenger vehicles.

Monthly file transmissions will come into effect on January 1, 2025, and are mandatory for all Quebec auto insurers.
