The cost of insuring a vehicle remains considerably more expensive for men under the age of 30.
- For 16-to-20 year-olds, the premium for men was 23.3% higher than that for women.
- Up to age 45, men pay more for auto insurance than women do. The difference between the premiums paid by men and by women narrows with age.
- The average premium drops for both sexes up to age 74 and then increases slightly for drivers aged 75 and up.

- Regardless of the driver’s sex, the claims frequency drops significantly with age. While 8.37% of men aged 16-24 had an accident in 2021, this figure was only 2.58% among 45-to-64 year-olds. This same downward trend is observed among women.
- Among 45-to-64 year-olds, the claims frequency for women begins to exceed that for men.

- The number of vehicles insured increases with age, peaking in the 45-to-64 age group and then tapering off. Individuals in the 45-to-64 age group owned 41% of the vehicles insured in Quebec in 2021.
- The number of vehicles insured is approximately the same for men and women up to age 44. After that point, men insure more vehicles than women do.
