According to age and sex

The cost of insuring a vehicle against collision remains considerably more expensive for men under the age of 30.

  • For 16-to-20 year-olds, the premium for men was 23.9% higher than that for women.
  • Up to age 45, men pay more for auto insurance than women do. The difference between the premiums paid by men and by women narrows with age.
  • The average premium drops for both sexes up to age 74 and then increases slightly for drivers aged 75 and up.
